RealPlayer makes it very easy to download Youtube videos. When you visit a Youtube video page you should see a Download This Video link.
If you don’t see the icon, move the cursor over the video and it should pop up. You have two options: you can either click the Download This Video link, or you can click the down arrow and select the Save this video as option. If you click the Download This Video link, the video will start downloading with the name it was uploaded to Youtube with and it will be saved to the location set up in the RealPlayer Preferences.
The RealPlayer Downloader opens to show you the progress the download is making.
If, on the other hand, you click on the down arrow instead of the Download This Video link, the following menu is displayed. Here, you can select the Save this video as option.
When the Save As window opens you can change the name of the video and select a location on your computer’s hard drive to save the video to. The location that defaults into this window comes from the RealPlayer Downloading and Recording Preferences.
When the download is complete, you can click on the image of the video to play it in RealPlayer. Alternatively, you can use Windows Explorer to find the video and then use RealPlayer to play it.
The file format of the downloaded video should be .flv as that is the video format that Youtube uses.
